Pick Color ("the extension") is a browser extension that lets you pick colors from your screen, save them into folders, and copy color codes to your clipboard. This Privacy Policy explains what data the extension handles and how. We have designed the extension to collect as little data as possible.
The following data is stored only in your browser's local extension
storage (chrome.storage.local) and is never transmitted to
us or any third party:
This data stays on your device and is removed if you uninstall the extension or clear its storage.
To understand how the extension is used and to improve it, we collect anonymous, aggregated usage data using Google Analytics (via the GA4 Measurement Protocol). This includes:
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| A randomly generated, anonymous client ID | To distinguish between installs for aggregate counts. It is not linked to your identity. |
| Session information (a session timestamp/ID) | To group activity into sessions for analytics reporting. |
| Feature-usage events (e.g. opening the picker, picking a color, copying a color, creating/renaming/deleting a folder, changing color mode) | To understand which features are used so we can prioritize improvements. |
| Anonymous error reports | To detect and fix bugs and crashes. |
These analytics events do not include the actual color values you save, your folder contents, the pages you visit, or any personal information. The anonymous client ID is generated randomly and stored locally; it does not identify you personally.
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
storage |
To save your colors, folders, and preferences locally in your browser. |
clipboardWrite |
To copy a selected color code to your clipboard when you ask it to. |
sidePanel |
To display the extension's interface in the browser side panel. |
contextMenus |
To provide right-click menu actions for the extension. |
We use Google Analytics to process the anonymous usage data described in Section 3. Your use of Google's services is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not use any other third-party services to process your data.
Data stored locally on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the extension. Anonymous analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings.
The extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
